From August 28, 2023 to September 1, 2023, a research workshop was held as part of the Croatian Science Foundation’s project “Sustainable slow steaming for low-carbon shipping, STARSHIP” in the Netherlands.
As part of the workshop, a visit to the TU Delft University in Delft and the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands, MARIN in Wageningen was organized. Both institutions are highly respected in the field of shipbuilding, especially in the field of ship hydrodynamics and offshore structures.
At TU Delft, the research group had the opportunity to see their two towing tanks, a cavitation tunnel and a smaller open channel towing tank for low-speed water flow.
At the MARIN Institute, the research group visited almost all laboratories, which include deep water and shallow water towing tanks, a concept, offshore and the seakeeping and manoeuvring basins, cavitation tunnel and a laboratory for testing ship propulsion systems (Zero emission lab).
Within the research workshop, the project of the Croatian Science Foundation, “Sustainable slow steaming for low-carbon shipping, STARSHIP”, was presented.
Members of the research group exchanged experiences with the respected scientists from the field of ship hydrodynamics related to conducting experimental and numerical investigations.
